98/99 Boys win big in Las Vegas

The 1998-1999 boys came out of the Las Vegas Thanksgiving tournament big winners. This was not a surprise even though this was the first tournament and games together as a team. Coaches Mike Gormley and Carlos Elizondo believe this team can achieve anything it works hard enough for.

The team started slow and gained momentum as the tournament progressed. College coaches were on hand evaluating the players. The tournament record was 3-1-1. CGA only allowing 3 goals, worked hard to secure 3 shutouts and scored a total 5 goals in the tournament. The 5th game of the tournament and final was dramatic and showcased both teams. The final was against the California team CGA  had lost to 0-2 in the first game of the tournament. With 5 minutes remaining the team was able to take the lead and secure the shutout and deny the defending 2015 champions their repeat.

Up next the team will return to Las Vegas for the Mayor’s Cup in February.
